About the Group
This proudly South African manufacturing group operates across several technical sectors, with a strong focus on engineering, supply chain performance, and operational excellence. Each business under the group umbrella is independently run, yet strategically aligned. The future? Global expansion, digital transformation, and the kind of scalable efficiency only a Group COO can unlock.
The Role: Driving Synergy at Scale
Reporting to the CEO and collaborating across Board, ExCo, and subsidiary leaders, you’ll be the operational engine room of the group.
Key mandates include:
- Group Strategy & Leadership – Align and direct strategy across subsidiaries to enable long-term growth.
- Operational Excellence – Elevate standards across manufacturing, supply chain, and plant performance.
- Innovation & Expansion – Drive bold initiatives including renewable energy integration, procurement strategy, and international scaling.
- Risk & Financial Governance – Oversee cost optimisation, risk mitigation, and group-wide profitability.
- Transformation & Succession – Champion best-in-class systems (ISO, IATF 16949), digital innovation, and future leadership development.
Requirements
Ideal Profile
Technical & Commercial Foundation
- BSc/BEng (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical,or Metallurgical)
- MBA or Postgrad in Business, Engineering, or Finance
Industry & Leadership Experience
- 15+ years in senior leadership roles within metalworking, fabrication, foundry, or heavy engineering
- Group-level responsibility across multiple subsidiaries, ideally 500+ employees
- Capital project and technology transformation leadership
Financial & Strategic Acumen
- Managed significant budgets and P&L at corporate level
- Deep understanding of international expansion, supply chain design, and cost optimisation
