Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced and creative Head Chef for a luxury lodge in Hoedspruit.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate culinary professional with a flair for creating exceptional dining experiences in a luxury safari environment. The successful candidate will oversee all kitchen operations while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, presentation and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the lodge kitchen
- Design and prepare innovative, seasonal menus
- Ensure exceptional food quality, presentation and consistency
- Lead, train and develop the kitchen team
- Manage stock control, ordering and supplier relationships
- Monitor food costs and minimise waste while maintaining quality
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and health regulations
- Cater for special dietary requirements and guest preferences
- Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness and organisation
- Work closely with lodge management to deliver outstanding guest experiences
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef within a luxury lodge, hotel or fine dining environment
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Passion for creating high-quality cuisine using fresh ingredients
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities
- Sound knowledge of stock control, food costing and budgeting
- Thorough understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
- Ability to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Relevant culinary qualification would be advantageous
