Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Guiding Couple to join a luxury safari lodge/game reserve. Both individuals will be responsible for delivering exceptional safari experiences to guests through professional game drives and guided activities. The ideal couple will have a strong passion for wildlife, conservation and hospitality, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently while supporting each other and the wider lodge team. Partner 1 & Partner 2: Field Guide Job Purpose To provide safe, informative and memorable wildlife experiences to guests while maintaining the highest standards of guiding, guest service and professionalism. Key Responsibilities Conduct daily game drives and guided safari activities. Provide engaging and informative interpretation of wildlife, fauna, flora and the environment. Ensure the safety and comfort of all guests throughout activities. Deliver personalised and professional guest experiences. Build strong relationships with guests and respond to their needs and requests. Assist with guest arrivals, departures and transfers where required. Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding the reserve, wildlife and surrounding area. Conduct vehicle safety checks before and after game drives. Ensure safari vehicles and guiding equipment are clean, safe and well maintained. Complete relevant vehicle, sightings and operational logs. Follow all reserve, conservation and safety policies and procedures. Assist with conservation and environmental initiatives where required. Participate in lodge activities and special guest experiences. Assist other lodge departments during busy periods. Handle guest concerns professionally and escalate issues to management when necessary. Maintain professional appearance and conduct at all times. Contribute towards creating an exceptional overall guest experience. Minimum Requirements Qualified Field Guide – both candidates. Relevant guiding qualification. Valid driver's licence. Valid DEAT/EDTEA registration ; where applicable. PDP advantageous/required depending on the lodge and vehicle requirements. First Aid qualification advantageous. Previous experience as a Field Guide within a safari lodge or game reserve preferred. Strong knowledge of South African wildlife, fauna and flora. Excellent communication and storytelling skills. Strong guest-service orientation. Professional and confident personality. Passion for wildlife, conservation and the safari industry. Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays. Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in a bush environment. Couple Requirements Both candidates should: Be qualified and passionate Field Guides . Have a genuine passion for wildlife, conservation and hospitality. Be professional, well presented and guest focused. Work well together as a couple and as part of a larger lodge team. Be flexible and willing to assist with general lodge operations when required. Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Be comfortable living and working in a remote/bush environment. Demonstrate maturity, reliability and a strong work ethic. Be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Maintain high standards of guest service at all times. Ideal Candidate Profile Candidate 1: Qualified Field Guide with strong wildlife knowledge and a passion for delivering exceptional game-drive experiences. Candidate 2: Qualified Field Guide with similar guiding experience, strong guest relations skills and a willingness to support lodge operations. Overall objective: A professional, enthusiastic guiding couple who can deliver outstanding safari experiences while contributing positively to the overall operation of the lodge.
