Kendrick Recruitment is seeking two experienced and passionate Camp Managers for a field guiding and wildlife training establishment in Hoedspruit. These opportunities are suited to hands-on hospitality professionals with strong leadership abilities, excellent organisational skills and a genuine passion for wildlife, conservation and the African bush.
The successful candidates will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day camp operations, ensuring a well-maintained environment, coordinating staff and delivering a positive experience for guests, students and trainees.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily operations and overall management of the camp.
Ensure the camp is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, presentation and functionality.
Supervise, manage and motivate staff to ensure efficient operations and a positive working environment.
Coordinate housekeeping, catering, maintenance and general camp services.
Ensure meals and accommodation services meet the required standards.
Assist with the coordination of daily activities, schedules and logistical requirements for field guiding and wildlife training programmes.
Maintain effective communication with trainers, guides, trainees and other relevant stakeholders.
Monitor stock levels, manage supplies and assist with purchasing and inventory control.
Oversee camp facilities and report maintenance requirements promptly.
Ensure health, safety, hygiene and operational procedures are consistently followed.
Handle queries, concerns and operational challenges professionally.
Assist with budgeting, administrative duties and operational reporting where required.
Promote a disciplined, organised and welcoming camp environment.
Support the smooth running of training activities while respecting the operational requirements of the establishment.
Requirements:
Previous experience in camp management, lodge management or a similar hospitality management role.
Experience within a safari lodge, bush camp, wildlife establishment or training environment would be advantageous.
Strong leadership and staff management skills.
Excellent organisational and administrative abilities.
A practical, hands-on approach to daily operations.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of housekeeping, catering, stock control and basic maintenance coordination.
The ability to manage multiple responsibilities and work effectively under pressure.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and operational planning.
A passion for wildlife, conservation and the outdoor environment would be beneficial.
Flexibility to work varied hours and assist with operational requirements as needed.
Salary: Dependent on experience.
