Kendrick Recruitment is seeking an experienced and passionate Field Guide to join a luxury private nature reserve in Hermanus. This is an excellent opportunity for a guide seeking a more balanced lifestyle while continuing to deliver exceptional guest experiences in a beautiful natural environment.
Requirements
- Relevant guiding qualifications
- Previous Field Guide experience, preferably within a luxury lodge or private reserve
- Strong knowledge of local wildlife, nature and conservation
- Excellent guest interaction and hosting skills
- Professional presentation and confident communication
- Passion for guiding and delivering memorable guest experiences
- Valid driver's licence and own transport advantageous
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Additional Information
- Staff accommodation is available approximately 10 minutes from the lodge at R2,500 per month
- Most guides live independently or share accommodation
- Guides are allocated their own guests and benefit from a structured tipping policy
- Good earning potential through guest tips
- Typical shifts are from 08:00 to 18:00, although guides often finish earlier
- A transport option is available for guides who require assistance getting to and from the lodge
- The role offers a more balanced lifestyle compared to traditional remote bush-based guiding positions
