Sales Representative – Precision Heavy Manufacturing
Overview
Our client is a specialist heavy manufacturing business focused on customised, low-volume, high-precision engineered solutions. Based in Germiston, they operate in a high-mix, low-volume production environment, manufacturing components and machinery to extremely tight tolerances.
The business is shifting toward a more diversified client base and seeks to strengthen its sales capability. This role requires a technically-competent and commercially-driven individual who can engage confidently with procurement departments, engineers and decision-makers – while navigating industry compliance complexities such as B-BBEE considerations.

What You’ll Be Doing
This is not a desk job – it’s a role for someone who understands engineering, can walk a factory floor and close real deals.
Responsibilities are:
hunting new business in the engineering & industrial sectors on the East Rand (for practical delivery)
building and managing a strong, active sales pipeline
engaging with procurement teams and technical stakeholders
driving deals with long (3+ month) sales cycles
conducting consistent outreach to prospective clients
interpreting technical requirements and translating them into viable manufacturing solutions
developing strategic relationships with clients prioritising capability and delivery
maintaining accurate reporting on pipeline performance

Sales is the largest driver of our client’s success therefore this role is critical to the business. You will:
generate revenue by securing new business – your core KPI
build relationships – externally with clients and internally with production
represent the company – professionally, credibly and technically to support repeat business and brand reputation
Experience & Knowledge
Proven track record in B2B sales within manufacturing, engineering or industrial sectors
Strong understanding of heavy fabrication or mechanical systems
Demonstrated experience managing complex and demanding sales cycles
Working knowledge of B-BBEE frameworks
Technical Competency
Strong ability to engage in technical discussions with clients and/or their representatives
Trade/Artisan background (eg: fitter, mechanic, boilermaker) is advantageous in understanding close tolerances
Formal degree not required, practical experience is critical
