Contract: Five-Year Fixed-Term Executive Contract
A leading national public sector organisation is seeking to appoint a highly accomplished and strategic finance executive to serve as Executive Manager: Financial & Administrative Services (Chief Financial Officer).
Reporting as a key member of the Executive Management Team, the successful candidate will provide strategic financial leadership, drive organisational performance, ensure sound governance, and oversee financial sustainability across a complex and multifaceted operating environment.
The successful incumbent will be responsible for:
Contributing as a member of the Executive Management Team and shaping organisational strategy.
Developing and implementing the organisation's financial strategy.
Providing strategic leadership for financial planning, budgeting, treasury, accounting, revenue management, financial reporting, and performance monitoring.
Ensuring compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and governance requirements.
Leading the preparation and submission of annual financial statements, management reports, and statutory returns.
Establishing and maintaining effective financial governance, risk management, and internal control frameworks.
Overseeing operational and capital budget management to maximise utilisation of financial resources.
Managing organisational cash flow and liquidity requirements.
Driving effective debtor management and revenue collection.
Ensuring efficient administration and oversight of grant funding and compliance requirements.
Overseeing facilities management and infrastructure-related financial oversight.
Managing relationships with internal and external auditors and ensuring timely resolution of audit findings.
Leading organisational financial transformation, systems enhancement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Building a high-performance culture through leadership, talent development, accountability, and operational excellence.
Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)).
Honours Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field (NQF Level 8).
A relevant postgraduate qualification will be advantageous.
Minimum of 15 years' experience within a financial management environment.
At least 10 years' senior management experience.
Minimum of 5 years' experience serving in a Chief Financial Officer role.
Proven experience as CFO within a large public sector organisation or similarly complex environment.
Demonstrated experience in strategic financial leadership, governance, risk management, and organisational performance management.
