Job Experience and Skills Required:
Education – minimum requirement:
- BSc or BComm in Actuarial Science (or equivalent)
- Nearly or newly qualified actuary (ASSA or equivalent)
Advantageous:
- FASSA (or equivalent)
- Programming skills (VBA, R, Python, SQL)
- Experience with Power BI
Experience:
Minimum:- 3+ years’ actuarial/analytical experience, preferably in short‑term insurance
- Demonstrable experience handling and analysing data
- Strong reserving or reporting experience
- Exposure to IFRS 17 methodologies, especially PAA
- Experience automating financial or actuarial models
- Experience in guarantee or trade credit environments
Skills:
- Advanced Excel
- SQL, Python, VBA, or similar programming languages
- Power BI reporting
- Strong statistical and analytical problem‑solving ability
- Ability to identify, diagnose, and correct data issues
Non‑negotiables / Behavioural Competencies:
- Strong understanding of actuarial processes within insurance
- Professional communication and stakeholder engagement capability
- Highly organised and able to manage multiple tasks
- Team player who contributes positively to culture
- Self‑motivated, inquisitive, and solutions-driven
