Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a creative and passionate Junior Pastry Sous Chef for a luxury private nature reserve based in Gansbaai. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented pastry professional with strong fine dining experience to join a high-end culinary team delivering exceptional guest experiences in a luxury environment.

The successful candidate will support the pastry and kitchen team in producing high-quality desserts, baked goods, and plated pastries, while maintaining consistently high standards of presentation, creativity, and hygiene.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation and presentation of all pastry and dessert items
  
• Support the development of new dessert menus and seasonal offerings
  
• Ensure high standards of taste, presentation, and consistency at all times
  
• Assist with bakery production including breads, pastries, and plated desserts
  
• Maintain strict hygiene, health, and safety standards in the pastry section
  
• Support stock control, ordering, and minimising waste
  
• Assist in training and guiding junior kitchen staff where required
  
• Ensure smooth daily pastry operations within a busy kitchen environment
  

Requirements:

• Formal culinary qualification with a pastry focus advantageous
  
• Previous experience in a pastry or kitchen role within a luxury lodge, hotel, or fine dining environment
  
• Strong knowledge of pastry techniques and dessert preparation
  
• High attention to detail and presentation standards
  
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen
  
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
  
• Passion for pastry, baking, and culinary creativity
  

Package:

• Salary: R17,000 – R22,000 depending on experience
  
• Live-out position
  

Additional Information:

• Staff accommodation is available in town, approximately 10 minutes from the property
  
• Accommodation ranges between R3,000 and R3,500 per month
