General Manager | Franschhoek | Dining and Wine Bar We are seeking a passionate; hands‑on GENERAL MANAGER to lead the team of a vibrant, hospitality‑driven restaurant that blends artisanal cuisine, a curated wine program, and a strong commitment to arts and community upliftment. This venue is known for its intimate atmosphere, creative partnerships, and dedication to exceptional guest experiences. As a General Manager, you will be required to uphold high standards and drive operational excellence. The GM will oversee daily operations, team leadership, financial performance, guest satisfaction, supplier relationships, and alignment with our cultural and social values. Key Information Start Date: Immediate Staff Count: ~14 employees Seating Capacity: 21 seated guests + 4 two‑seater couches Schedule: Monday to Sunday (rostered shifts with Assistant Manager) Service Hours: 10:00 – 21:30 (closing times may vary) Annual Closures: Christmas Day & New Year’s Day Reporting Line: Ownership / Operations Manager Transport: Own reliable transport required Equipment: Own laptop highly preferable Core Responsibilities ? Operational Management Oversee day‑to‑day operations ensuring smooth service Maintain high standards of food, beverage, cleanliness, and ambience Manage opening/closing procedures and stock control Coordinate catering and bulk orders ? Team Leadership Lead and motivate a team of ~14 staff Collaborate with Assistant Manager on shift management Recruit; train, and develop staff Build a disciplined yet joyful team culture ? Financial Performance Manage budgets, cost controls, and profitability targets Monitor sales, labour costs, and margins Handle cash‑ups, reconciliations, and financial administration ? Guest Experience Deliver exceptional guest service at all times Lead by example on the floor Handle feedback and complaints professionally Build strong community relationships ? Wine, Art & Partnerships Manage curated wine list and cellar sales Drive wine sales through staff education and guest engagement Host wine tastings and premium experiences Promote partnerships with local arts initiatives ?
