As Head Chef, you will be responsible for elevating every aspect of the dining experience - crafting menus that reflect the spirit of the destination, its seasons, and the stories of the land. You will collaborate closely with local producers and suppliers to champion fresh, regionally sourced ingredients, while leading and mentoring a dedicated kitchen team to consistently deliver at the highest standard. You will also take full ownership of kitchen administration, including food costing, stock control and procurement, ensuring efficient and profitable operations without compromising quality. This is an extraordinary opportunity to lead the culinary narrative of an exclusive safari camp renowned for intimate guest experiences and a deep connection to the African bush. The successful candidate will join a passionate team dedicated to authenticity, conservation, and creating genuinely memorable moments for every guest. Requirements: · Formal culinary qualification (diploma or degree) from a recognised institution · A minimum of six years’ experience in a Head Chef capacity within a fine dining environment · Prior experience working in a safari lodge, game reserve, or upmarket boutique hotel is essential · Demonstrable leadership ability with a genuine commitment to mentoring and developing kitchen staff · A passion for training and growing teams, with the ability to inspire a culture of excellence · Thorough knowledge of food costing, stock management, and all aspects of kitchen administration · The resilience and professionalism to maintain exceptional standards in a remote and demanding environment · Strong collaborative approach – able to work in close partnership with property management to continually enhance the overall guest experience · Stable employment history with contactable references Salary: To be discussed – live in ➡️ A food portfolio must be submitted with your application, clearly showcasing creativity, innovation, and attention to detail.
