Drive Technical Excellence and Aftermarket Growth Across Global Mining Operations
An established international engineering solutions provider in the minerals processing sector is seeking a commercially astute and technically strong Lead Aftermarket Service / Sales Engineer to join its growing aftermarket division.
This is a senior-level opportunity for an experienced engineering professional who combines deep technical capability with strong client engagement and business development skills. The role focuses on supporting installed process equipment across mining operations while driving aftermarket revenue growth through spares, upgrades, optimisation initiatives, and long-term client partnerships.
The successful candidate will serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients, identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and optimise plant performance while expanding aftermarket business opportunities across multiple regions.
Key Responsibilities
Aftermarket Business Development & Client Management
- Develop and expand regional aftermarket business opportunities within mining and mineral processing sectors
- Drive revenue growth across aftermarket services, spares, retrofits, upgrades, and technical support offerings
- Build and maintain strong long-term client relationships across multiple operational sites
- Identify upgrade and optimisation opportunities within existing installed equipment bases
- Prepare and execute strategic market penetration and growth plans
- Manage technical and commercial client engagements, presentations, and solution proposals
- Prepare, submit, and manage technical and commercial tenders
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts, budgets, and pipeline reporting
- Represent the business at conferences, exhibitions, trade shows, and industry events
Technical Service & Engineering Support
- Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for mineral processing equipment and systems
- Conduct equipment inspections, performance evaluations, and optimisation assessments
- Support commissioning, startup, and operational improvement initiatives
- Assist with equipment sizing, specification, and selection activities
- Compile technical reports, process evaluations, P&IDs, and development flowsheets
- Coordinate laboratory and pilot plant test work where required
- Liaise closely with internal engineering, commercial, contracts, and project teams to support successful delivery
- Drive proactive maintenance and aftermarket support strategies across client operations
Exposure to Mining & Mineral Processing Technologies
The successful candidate will gain exposure to a broad range of mineral processing and liquid-solid separation technologies, including:
- Crushing and screening equipment
- Milling and grinding circuits
- Cyclones and classification systems
- Spiral concentrators
- Slurry pumping systems
- Thickening and clarification technologies
- Vacuum Belt Filters
- Filter Press systems
- Dewatering equipment
- Process piping and slurry handling systems
- Flocculant dosing and process optimisation systems
- OEM aftermarket maintenance and upgrade solutions
Requirements
- Artisan, Diploma or Degree - Mechanical (or other engineering discipline if the right experience)
- 5–10 years’ experience within aftermarket services, technical sales, field service, or customer-facing engineering environments
- Strong exposure to mining, minerals processing, OEM capital equipment, or related heavy industrial sectors
- Proven experience supporting process equipment and aftermarket service operations
- Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated business development experience
- Experience with equipment commissioning, optimisation, troubleshooting, and technical support
- Ability to prepare technical and commercial tenders and proposals
- Excellent client relationship management and communication skills
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and aftermarket revenue management
- Ability to engage professionally with clients, contractors, and technical stakeholders at all levels
- Willingness to travel extensively both locally and internationally (70%)
- Valid driver’s licence essential
- Ability to pass mine-required medical examinations and criminal background screening

- Salary: R600,000 – R1,100,000 CTC per annum (depending on experience)
