A rare and exciting opportunity exists for a dynamic, hands-on HR Manager to join a start-up business that brings together a collection of luxury accommodation properties alongside a farming and production operation based in Durbanville. This is not a traditional HR role—this is an opportunity to build; shape, and influence the people function from the ground up. We’re looking for someone entrepreneurial, resilient, and passionate about creating structure, culture, and best practice within a growing and evolving environment. The Opportunity: You will take full ownership of the HR function, partnering closely with leadership to establish policies, processes, and a strong people culture across both hospitality and operational teams. Key Responsibilities: HR Build & Strategy Develop and implement HR frameworks, policies, and procedures from inception Partner with leadership to align people strategy with business growth plans Establish a strong, values-driven culture across all divisions Talent & Workforce Development Drive end-to-end recruitment across luxury hospitality, farm, and production teams Build onboarding, training, and development structures from the ground up Support succession planning and retention strategies in a growing business Employee Relations & Compliance Manage all IR processes and ensure compliance with South African labour legislation Provide guidance on disciplinary matters, grievances, and performance management Embed HR best practices across a multi-functional workforce Operational HR Oversee HR administration, payroll inputs, and reporting Implement workforce planning structures across multiple business units Support managers with day-to-day HR and people-related challenges Culture & Engagement Drive employee engagement and culture-building initiatives Foster alignment across diverse teams—from luxury hospitality to farm/production staff Support transformation, sustainability, and organisational growth What You Bring: Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources or related field Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in an HR Management role Experience within start-up, hospitality, agriculture, manufacturing, or multi-site environments is highly advantageous Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation Proven track record in building HR structures and managing IR processes Skills & Competencies: Entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on approach Ability to build structure in an unstructured environment Strong interpersonal and influencing skills across all levels Resilient; adaptable, and solutions-driven High level of emotional intelligence and sound judgement This is a unique opportunity to build something meaningful from the ground up —where luxury, sustainability, and operational excellence intersect.
