Duties:

Financial Planning & Strategy

• Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the organisation’s business objectives.
• Support executive management with financial modelling, scenario planning, and strategic financial insights.
• Analyse financial trends, performance indicators, and variances to guide decision-making.

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Prepare and manage annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
• Monitor budget performance and provide regular variance analysis and corrective recommendations.
• Work with departmental heads to ensure budgets are realistic, controlled, and aligned with strategic priorities.

Financial Reporting

• Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal financial policies.
• Provide clear and meaningful financial reports to senior management and stakeholders.

Cash Flow & Working Capital Management

• Manage and forecast cash flow to ensure operational sustainability.
• Oversee debtors, creditors, and working capital to optimise liquidity.
• Implement controls to improve cash collection and manage payment cycles effectively.

Financial Controls & Governance

• Establish, maintain, and enforce strong financial controls and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and tax requirements.
• Support internal and external audits and address audit findings promptly.

Risk Management & Compliance

• Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensure adherence to financial governance frameworks and risk policies.
• Monitor exposure to operational, credit, and compliance risks.

Payroll & Statutory Compliance

• Oversee payroll processes ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.
• Ensure timely submission and payment of statutory obligations including tax, UIF, and related filings.
• Stay abreast of legislative changes affecting payroll and financial compliance.

Stakeholder & Business Partnering

• Act as a financial advisor and business partner to management and department heads.
• Liaise with external stakeholders including auditors, banks, tax authorities, and service providers.
• Provide financial input into contracts, pricing, and commercial negotiations.

Systems & Process Improvement

• Oversee and optimise financial systems and accounting software.
• Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reporting quality.
• Ensure financial data integrity and system controls.

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead, manage, and develop the finance team to ensure high performance and accountability.
• Set clear objectives, conduct performance reviews, and identify training needs.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, professionalism, and ethical conduct.

Reporting & Communication

• Prepare and present financial reports, dashboards, and insights to executive management.
• Provide regular updates on financial performance, risks, and opportunities.
• Serve as a key escalation point for financial matters.

Continuous Improvement

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function.
• Implement best practices in financial management, reporting, and controls.
• Ensure lessons learned are documented and applied to future financial planning.
