Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant General Manager for a well-established health and fitness club based in Durban. This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic hospitality, leisure or fitness professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for delivering exceptional member experiences while supporting the overall management of the club.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the General Manager with the day-to-day operation of the club
- Ensure exceptional levels of customer service and member satisfaction
- Support and motivate departmental managers and team members
- Oversee daily operational standards across all departments
- Assist with staff training, performance management and team development
- Monitor health and safety compliance throughout the facility
- Support the achievement of financial targets and operational budgets
- Handle member queries and resolve complaints professionally and efficiently
- Ensure the club maintains the highest standards of presentation and cleanliness
- Assist with implementing operational procedures and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Previous management experience within hospitality, leisure, fitness or a related industry
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Financial and commercial awareness
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- High level of professionalism and customer service focus
- Computer literacy and experience with operational reporting systems will be advantageous
