Tax Manager to join a dynamic group environment and play a key role in the strategic and operational management of the tax function. Reporting directly to the
Group Tax Manager, this position offers broad exposure across corporate tax, VAT, transfer pricing, international tax, and tax risk management.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing tax compliance across the group, providing technical tax expertise, managing tax risks, and supporting key business initiatives. This role is ideally suited to a commercially minded tax professional who combines deep technical knowledge with strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Oversee all direct and indirect tax compliance activities across the group, including:
- Corporate Income Tax (CIT)
- VAT
- PAYE
- Customs and Excise
- Other applicable taxes
- Review and approve tax returns, tax computations, and supporting schedules.
- Ensure compliance with all tax legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor tax filing deadlines and ensure timely submissions.
Tax Strategy & Risk Management
- Develop and implement tax strategies aligned with the group's commercial objectives.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate tax risks across the organisation.
- Implement and maintain effective tax controls, processes, and governance frameworks.
- Conduct tax health checks and proactively address areas of risk or non-compliance.
- Support tax planning initiatives aimed at improving the group's overall tax position.
SARS Engagement & Dispute Resolution
- Manage interactions with SARS, including audits, reviews, disputes, and assessments.
- Lead responses to audit queries and ensure efficient resolution of tax matters.
- Oversee Voluntary Disclosure Programme (VDP) applications where required.
- Maintain positive and professional relationships with regulatory authorities.
Technical Tax Advisory
- Provide expert tax guidance and support to finance teams, operational management, and leadership.
- Research complex tax issues and develop practical solutions and recommendations.
- Assess the impact of changes in tax legislation on the business.
- Deliver tax-related support on strategic projects, transactions, and business initiatives.
International Tax & Transfer Pricing
- Assist with Transfer Pricing compliance and documentation requirements.
- Support the preparation of Country-by-Country Reporting (CBCR) submissions.
- Provide support on international tax compliance and cross-border tax matters.
- Assist with group-wide tax structuring and international tax initiatives.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Manage, mentor, and develop members of the tax team.
- Provide tax training and knowledge-sharing across the organisation.
- Liaise with external advisors, consultants, and auditors.
- Build strong relationships with finance teams and key stakeholders across the group.
- Support the Group Tax Manager and CFO with strategic tax initiatives and project work.
Requirements
Qualifications
- BCom Honours Degree or relevant postgraduate qualification in Tax, Accounting, or Finance.
- Registered Tax Practitioner.
- CA(SA) qualification highly preferred.
- MCom Taxation will be advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum 7-8 years' tax experience within a similar role.
- Strong experience across:
- Corporate Tax
- VAT
- PAYE
- Tax Compliance
- Tax Risk Management
- SARS Audits and Dispute Resolution
- Exposure to International Tax and Transfer Pricing will be advantageous.
- Experience operating within a large corporate or group environment is preferred.
