Introduction
An established organisation within the agricultural and livestock sector is seeking an experienced Fitter & Turner to join its maintenance team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preventative maintenance, mechanical repairs, fault-finding and breakdown maintenance on farm, livestock and production equipment.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment and farm machinery.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical breakdowns.
• Maintain bearings, shafts, sprockets, chains, pulleys, gearboxes, pumps and conveyors.
• Perform mechanical fitting, alignment, welding, fabrication, cutting, drilling and grinding where required.
• Maintain livestock handling, feeding and water systems.
• Assist with maintenance of generators, compressors and other supporting equipment.
• Respond to urgent breakdowns affecting farm operations.
• Maintain a safe and organised workshop and comply with health and safety requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
• Grade 12 / Matric – essential.
• Trade Tested Fitter & Turner – essential.
• Minimum 3 years' relevant mechanical maintenance experience.
• Experience with farm machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Agricultural, livestock or food-production experience will be advantageous.
• Valid driver's licence will be advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and respond to breakdowns and emergencies.
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors and in demanding farm conditions.
