Field Guide | Luxury Wilderness Reserve Location: Clanwilliam, Western Cape Salary: Negotiable DOE | Live-in Kendrick Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a luxury wilderness reserve in Clanwilliam for a knowledgeable and guest-focused Field Guide. This role suits a passionate guiding professional who is committed to exceptional guest experiences, conservation principles, and safety within a high-end wilderness environment. Minimum Experience / Qualifications: Valid driver’s licence and PDP Valid First Aid certificate DEAT registration in the Western Cape FGASA Level 1 qualification as a Field Guide Preferably a minimum of two years’ experience as a Field Guide Strong knowledge of Western Cape fauna and flora Preferable knowledge of Bushman rock art Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English Skills Required: Physically and mentally fit Sound working knowledge of local fauna, flora, ecology, ethno-botany, archaeology, geology, climate, night sky, and first aid Basic ability to identify major tracks and signs Ability to safely operate a canoe, re-curve bow and arrow, mountain bike, telescope, fly-fishing equipment, and 4x4 vehicle Basic 4x4 maintenance skills Working knowledge of the fundamentals of photography Experience guiding in a luxury lodge environment Good understanding of the luxury travel market Computer literate in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Key Performance Objectives: Conduct guided guest activities by interpreting the natural and cultural environment Lead guided experiences on foot, by vehicle, canoe, or bicycle Ensure all activities are conducted with minimal environmental impact Assist with guest check-in, orientation, luggage handling, and vehicle parking Manage wake-up calls and oversee daily guest activity schedules Take responsibility for lodge security duties as required Transport staff when necessary and assist with operational logistics Prepare and manage cooler boxes and guiding equipment daily Act as the main communication link between guests and lodge departments Operate; maintain, and clean company-issued vehicles and equipment Accept accountability for all company property issued Assist with conservation, community, marketing, and guest experience projects Compile guest itineraries, programmes, and activity schedules Support reserve management tasks including monitoring, maintenance, and veld management Assist with personnel administration, timekeeping, stock, and reporting when required Operate strictly within South African legal and statutory requirements Uphold strong relationships with landowners through respectful and lawful conduct Take full responsibility for guest safety, comfort, and overall enjoyment Maintain the highest possible safety standards at all times This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated Field Guide to join a luxury wilderness reserve in a unique and scenic region.
