About the Role
On behalf of our client, we are seeking a disciplined, high-impact Night Shift Manager to lead and optimize nighttime warehouse operations at their Centurion facility. Reporting directly to the Warehouse Executive / Operations Management, the successful candidate will take end-to-end operational accountability for the night shift, leading a team of 70 staff (supervisors, clerks, pickers, packers, binners, and material handling equipment operators). This shift is strictly focused on high-volume preparation, picking, staging, and packing to ensure customer orders are fully staged and audit-ready for morning dispatches (no evening deliveries/outbound transport). The role demands a hands-on leader skilled in labor planning, productivity tracking, inventory integrity, Health & Safety, and shop-floor discipline.

Working Hours & Environment
Standard Hours: Monday to Friday, 18:00 – 06:00 (Night Shift).
Environment: Fast-paced, high-volume automotive parts and wholesale distribution warehouse floor.
Compliance & Operations: Strict adherence to ISO (9001/45001) quality and environmental standards, company standard operating procedures, and Health & Safety regulations at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Shift Leadership & People Management: Direct, motivate, and oversee a nighttime workforce of 70 personnel; manage attendance, leave cover, productivity KPIs, floor discipline, and performance appraisals, initiating disciplinary actions in alignment with HR policies when required.
Preparation, Pick & Pack Operations: Drive high-accuracy, high-volume batch picking, binning, checking, and packaging workflows to ensure all orders are staged accurately and efficiently for the morning delivery teams.
Shift Handover & Workflow Continuity: Coordinate closely with day management and inventory teams to align on backlogs, daily targets, space allocation, and clear operational handover reports between shifts.
Inventory Control & Quality Assurance: Enforce zero-tolerance picking and packing error rates, assist with stock cycle counts, minimize damages, and ensure all barcode scanning, system updates, and dispatch staging documentation match system data.
Equipment & Safe Material Handling: Supervise MHE pre-shift checks (forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks), ensure proper battery charging routines, and uphold safe operation and storage protocols.
Health, Safety & Housekeeping (OHS / ISO): Maintain a safe, clean, and organized warehouse floor adhering strictly to ISO (9001/45001) quality and environmental standards, company safety regulations, and emergency procedures.
Security & Facility Controls: Enforce strict access control, lock-up procedures, and floor surveillance during night hours to protect inventory, facility assets, and personnel.
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 3–5 years’ supervisory or management experience running large warehouse floor teams (60+ staff members).
Operational Track Record: Proven background managing fast-paced high-volume pick-and-pack fulfillment, binning, staging, and inventory workflows.
Education: Grade 12 / Matric qualification. A relevant tertiary qualification (Diploma / Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Operations Management) is advantageous.
Night Shift Availability: Must be fully committed and able to reliably work permanent night shift hours (18:00 to 06:00, Monday to Friday).
Systems Knowledge: Practical experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS / ERP software) and basic MS Office (Excel, Outlook).
Attributes: Strong command presence, exceptional crisis-management and problem-solving skills, high attention to detail, and sound labor relations / disciplinary management skills.
Beneficial Experience: Direct operational experience within the automotive parts importation, wholesale, or aftermarket spares distribution sectors (highly advantageous, but not essential); valid Forklift / MHE license or technical understanding of fleet operations; working knowledge of ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 45001) and lean warehousing principles.
