Job Summary
We are looking for a Power BI Developer with strong front-end dashboard design skills to support a key client in the public-sector environment. This role is ideal for someone who excels in creating clear, user-friendly, and impactful dashboards, with a strong focus on UI/UX and data storytelling.
What you'll do:
- Dashboard Design & Visualisation (80%)
- Develop and enhance visually compelling Power BI dashboards for operational and executive reporting.
- Apply UI/UX best practices to ensure dashboards are intuitive and accessible for a broad range of stakeholders.
- Translate business and departmental requirements into meaningful visual insights.
- Maintain consistent visual standards, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and usability.
- Optimise dashboards for performance and user adoption.
- Data Modelling & Backend Support (20%)
- Build and optimise DAX measures, calculated fields, and efficient data models.
- Use Power Query for data shaping and transformation across multiple data sources.
- Work with data owners, analysts, and backend teams to ensure high-quality datasets.
- Manage dataset refresh schedules, workspace structure, and permissions in Power BI Service.
Your Expertise:
- 3+ years’ experience as a Power BI Developer or BI Analyst.
- Strong portfolio showcasing UI/visualisation-focused dashboard work.
- Intermediate to strong knowledge of DAX, Power Query, and data modelling.
- Experience working with SQL-based data sources.
- Ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting clients in public-sector or regulated environments.
- Understanding of data governance and security principles (e.g., POPIA).
- Exposure to cloud platforms, ideally Azure.
