Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Qualified Vehicle Body Builder to join our Truck workshop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for building, repairing and maintaining vehicle bodies to the highest standards of safety and workmanship.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Welding, cutting, bolting, and riveting structural sections using specialized equipment
- Working with various materials including steel, aluminium, and fiberglass
- Fitting body components such as doors, locks, handles, windows, and interior trims
- Replacing seats, panels, bumpers, and light boxes
- Removing and reattaching structural components
- Installing interior finishes including floor coverings and door trims
- Carrying out minor accident repairs and refurbishment work
- Performing quality control checks on vehicle body condition, chassis (including cracks), body bolts, and accident damage
- Inspecting safety and compliance items such as seat belts, mirrors, fire extinguishers, license discs, number plates, and data plates
- Repairing and modifying truck and trailer bodies
- Ensuring all work complies with road safety regulations
- Adhering to the Occupational Health and Safety Act at all time
Qualifying Criteria
- Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Relevant qualification or Red Seal Trade Test certificate
- Minimum of 5-8 years relevant working experience within the engineering or metal industry
- Proven experience as a Vehicle Body Builder
- Strong welding and fabrication skills
- Knowledge of commercial vehicle standards and compliance
- Extensive knowledge of power tools
- Must be prepared to work overtime when required
