An established financial services business is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join its finance team.

This is a hands-on position suited to a technically strong accounting professional with experience in financial services or a similarly regulated environment. The successful candidate will support accurate financial reporting, effective financial controls and the smooth delivery of month-end, year-end and audit processes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  
• Complete month-end and year-end accounting processes.
  
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate financial records.
  
• Prepare and review balance-sheet reconciliations.
  
• Assist with financial-statement preparation.
  
• Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
  
• Prepare cash-flow reports and monitor banking transactions.
  
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and statutory requirements.
  
• Prepare audit schedules and assist with internal and external audits.
  
• Maintain effective financial controls and accounting procedures.
  
• Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and reporting.
  
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and provide relevant financial information.
  
• Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and projects.
  

Requirements

Experience and requirements

• Relevant accounting or finance degree.
  
• Completed articles 
  
• Previous experience in financial services, lending, banking, insurance or another regulated industry would be advantageous.
  
• Strong management-accounting and financial-reporting experience.
  
• Good understanding of accounting standards and statutory compliance.
  
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
  
• Advanced Excel skills and experience using financial systems.
  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
