Gardener and Driver | CT | Private Property We are seeking a reliable and versatile GARDENER AND DRIVER to join a private household in Bishopscourt, Cape Town. This is a full-time opportunity to become part of a young couple’s home, ensuring the highest standards of garden care, property maintenance, and professional driving support. Gardener and Driver - Role Overview The property is a luxury private residence in Bishopscourt, occupied by the owners for part of the year and rented to carefully selected guests during other months. The Gardener & Driver role is hands-on and varied, combining outdoor maintenance with driving duties and household support. This is a permanent position, ideal for candidates who want to build a long-term relationship with the family and contribute positively to the household environment. Gardener and Driver - Key Responsibilities Garden & Outdoor Maintenance Maintain the garden to a consistently high standard, ensuring it is neat, healthy, and visually appealing. Care for a variety of plants and flowers, ensuring their growth and seasonal upkeep. Mow lawns regularly and follow fertilising schedules. Keep all garden equipment clean, well-maintained, and functioning optimally. Assist external landscapers with larger projects. Set up and arrange outdoor furniture for guests, including moving heavy items. Carry out general outdoor cleaning and maintenance as required. Support basic pool and spa upkeep, including water cleanliness and chemical balancing. Ensure household vehicles are cared for and maintained. Household Support Assist the housekeeping team with heavy lifting and shared cleaning duties. Help with tasks such as window cleaning and other property upkeep. Provide support wherever needed to maintain the overall household environment. Driving Duties Drive owners and guests around Cape Town and surrounding areas as required. Maintain a professional, friendly, and courteous manner at all times. Ensure vehicles are clean and well presented before and after use. Be familiar with Cape Town routes and destinations. Gardener and Driver - Candidate Requirements Experience & Background South African ID or Valid work permit or legal right to work in South Africa. Previous gardening or property maintenance experience preferred. Prior driving experience in a household or professional capacity advantageous. Candidates from Malawian or Zimbabwean backgrounds are preferred. Licensing & Practical Valid South African driver’s license preferred but not essential. Familiarity with Cape Town and surrounds is advantageous. Must have own transport or be comfortable using public transport. Physically fit and able to carry and move heavy furniture and equipment. Skills & Attributes Well-spoken; with good English reading and writing skills. Confident and comfortable interacting with guests in a professional manner. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Honest; reliable, and hardworking with a strong work ethic. Team player who takes direction well. Punctual; presentable, and detail-oriented.
