Director of Sales – Ultra-Luxury Lodges Africa – Cape Town based A prestigious international hospitality group, representing an exceptional portfolio of 15 ultra-luxury lodges across Africa, is seeking an accomplished Director of Sales to lead its commercial sales strategy from Cape Town. This is a senior-level opportunity for a highly experienced hospitality sales professional with proven expertise in the African luxury lodge, safari and leisure travel markets. The successful candidate will be responsible for representing the full portfolio, strengthening high-value trade relationships, driving revenue growth, developing strategic market opportunities and positioning the brand at the forefront of the ultra-luxury African travel sector. The ideal candidate will bring established relationships within the luxury leisure, lodge and safari markets, a strong understanding of international source markets, and the commercial maturity to represent a world-class collection of African properties at senior industry level. Description: Key Responsibilities Lead and implement the sales strategy for a portfolio of 15 ultra-luxury lodges across Africa. Represent the group at senior level across the luxury leisure, safari, lodge and experiential travel markets. Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key trade partners, tour operators, DMCs, travel designers, consortia, representation companies and luxury travel specialists. Drive revenue growth across the portfolio through targeted account management, new business development and market expansion. Identify opportunities within South Africa, Africa and selected international source markets to grow brand presence and commercial performance. Act as a senior brand ambassador, ensuring the portfolio is positioned with credibility, consistency and distinction in the ultra-luxury travel space. Develop and oversee sales plans, market segmentation, account strategies and trade engagement initiatives. Represent the brand at trade shows, roadshows, sales missions, networking events and high-level industry engagements. Work closely with executive leadership, marketing, reservations and operations teams to align sales activity with brand, revenue and guest experience objectives. Monitor market trends, competitor activity, demand patterns and travel trade insights to inform strategic decision-making. Prepare senior-level sales reports, forecasts, market feedback and performance analysis. Support the development of sales collateral, presentations, campaigns and trade-facing communications. Ensure all sales activity reflects the standards, positioning and expectations of an international ultra-luxury hospitality brand. Requirements: Minimum Requirements South African citizen, based in Cape Town. Proven senior-level sales experience within the luxury hospitality, lodge, safari, leisure travel or high-end tourism sector. Strong experience in the African ultra-luxury lodge and leisure markets is essential. Established relationships with luxury travel trade partners, tour operators, DMCs, travel designers, consortia and international leisure specialists. Demonstrated ability to lead sales strategy across a multi-property or portfolio environment. Strong commercial acumen with a proven track record of driving revenue growth, market development and account performance. Excellent understanding of luxury leisure travel trends, African destinations, safari lodge operations and high-end guest expectations. Confident; polished and credible at senior industry level, with the ability to represent an international brand professionally. Strong leadership, communication, negotiation and relationship-management skills. Ability to work strategically while remaining hands-on with key accounts, market activity and trade engagement. Excellent reporting, planning, forecasting and presentation skills. Willingness to travel locally, regionally and internationally when required for trade shows, sales calls and brand representation. A genuine passion for African luxury hospitality, safari travel and exceptional guest experiences.
