We are seeking a proactive and experienced Assistant Safety & Security Manager to support the delivery of a safe, secure, and compliant environment for our guests, employees, contractors, and visitors. ABOUT THE ROLE: Reporting to the Head of Safety & Security, you will support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of all safety and security operations across the hotel. You will play a key role in protecting people, assets, and information while ensuring full compliance with legal requirements, brand standards, and hotel policies. You will oversee daily security operations, identify and mitigate risks, support loss prevention initiatives, and coordinate responses to incidents, emergencies, and evacuations. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external authorities, you will help foster a strong culture of safety and security throughout the hotel. In the absence of the Head of Safety & Security, you will assume responsibility for the department, ensuring operational continuity and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Support the management of daily safety and security operations across the hotel. Identify; assess, and mitigate safety and security risks. Coordinate incident, emergency, and evacuation responses. Drive loss prevention and asset protection initiatives. Ensure compliance with legislation, hotel policies, brand standards, and audit requirements. Supervise; coach, and develop the security team to maintain high performance and professionalism. Prepare accurate incident reports and maintain departmental records. Liaise with management, emergency services, authorities, contractors, and service providers. Support safety committees, compliance meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives. Assume the responsibilities of the Head of Safety & Security during periods of absence. Promote a proactive culture of safety, security, and risk awareness across the hotel. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: To be successful in this role, you will have: A South African Citizen A Higher Certificate in Safety & Security, Risk Management, or Occupational Health & Safety (NQF Level 5–6). PSIRA Registration – Grade B (minimum). First Aid Level 1 certification. Basic Fire Fighting Certificate. A valid Code B driver's license. A minimum of 3–4 years' experience in safety and/or security operations within a hospitality environment. Experience supporting safety committees and compliance meetings. Experience in loss prevention and asset protection. Working knowledge of integrated security technologies, including: CCTV and access control systems Control rooms and panic alarm systems Electric fencing Fire detection and fire alarm systems Experience with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Occupational Health & Safety (OHS), or risk compliance audits. Working knowledge of COIDA / Workmen's Compensation and Injury on Duty (IOD) processes, including the timely submission of claims. Physical fitness and the ability to conduct regular patrols throughout the property.
