Job Summary
We are seeking an inspiring, empowering, and results-oriented Assistant Food & Beverage Manager with a passion for service excellence and a proven ability to maintain high standards while meeting or exceeding financial goals. In this role, you will support the Food & Beverage Manager in translating business strategic priorities into effective divisional strategies, goals, and objectives, while overseeing all aspects of the F&B operation. Key Responsibilities Assist in overseeing all Food & Beverage operations, including restaurants, bars, room service, and conferencing & events Contribute to the development and execution of F&B strategies aligned with business objectives Deliver exceptional guest experiences through innovative offerings and outstanding service standards Manage and control the F&B budget, driving revenue growth and ensuring operational profitability Plan and implement menus, promotions, and events to enhance guest satisfaction and revenue Establish and maintain high service standards across all F&B outlets Lead; motivate, and develop a large team, fostering teamwork, accountability, and staff engagement Oversee staff processes, including recruitment, performance management, conduct, and presentation Ensure effective workforce planning, rostering, and staff development initiatives Manage stock control, supplier relationships, and daily administrative functions Maintain compliance with hygiene, health & safety, and pest control standards Requirements Matric Certificate Relevant tertiary qualification from a recognised South African or international institution Additional certifications such as Cape Wine Academy, WSET, or Cocktail/Bar courses are advantageous Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a similar role within a busy, high-demand environment Proven leadership experience within Food & Beverage operations Skills & Competencies Strong operational background in F&B, including budgeting, cost control, and workforce planning Solid experience in recruitment, IR processes, and team management Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong financial and business acumen with a results-driven mindset Innovative; proactive, and client-focused approach In-depth knowledge of food and beverages, including wines, cocktails, and spirits Strong planning, organisational, and implementation skills Proficiency in MICROS, speed point systems, and MS 365 Additional Requirements Own reliable transport Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
