Job Summary
Our client, a reputable and established business based in Bloemfontein, is seeking a hardworking and dependable Maintenance Worker to join their team. This role is suited to a hands-on individual with strong problem-solving skills who can ensure that facilities, equipment, and general infrastructure are maintained to a high standard, supporting smooth daily operations.
Minimum requirements
- Grade 10 or Matric certificate
- Proven minimum experience of 2 years in general maintenance, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical work
- Fluent in English and Afrikaans
- Ability to operate and maintain basic tools and equipment safely
- Good understanding of health and safety regulations in the workplace
- Physically fit and able to perform manual labour
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
- Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented
- Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to maintenance emergencies when required
- Valid driver’s license will be advantageous
Skills required
- Proficient in general maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical repairs
- Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve maintenance issues efficiently
- Familiarity with the safe use of hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Basic understanding of health and safety standards and procedures
- Good organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Physical stamina and dexterity for manual work and lifting heavy equipment
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Effective communication skills for reporting issues and coordinating with supervisors or other departments
Duties and responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of machinery, equipment, and facilities to ensure proper functioning
- Conduct basic repairs in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems as needed
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency breakdowns
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory of tools and equipment
- Ensure that all work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Assist in the installation and setup of new equipment or machinery
- Monitor the condition of equipment and report potential issues to management
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards
- Collaborate with other staff to support operational efficiency and minimize downtime
- Participate in preventative maintenance programs to reduce the likelihood of equipment failure

Monday - Friday: 07h00 - 17h00
