Job Summary
A well-established industrial enterprise to source a proactive and energetic Junior IT Operations Assistant. This role is essential for supporting senior technologists and maintaining the physical integrity, organisation, and safety of the company's IT infrastructure. Core Responsibilities:
- Technical Field Support: Assist senior information technologists with daily hardware troubleshooting and system setups, actively managing the transportation and preparation of technical tools, materials, and equipment across the facility.
- Infrastructure Inspections: Conduct routine departmental audits on all physical IT hardware and work areas to actively identify and report visual defects, damages, or operational risks.
- Inventory & Asset Control: Facilitate the collection and distribution of hardware components from the central IT storeroom, whilst executing precise monthly stock counts and reporting any inventory discrepancies.
- Preventative Maintenance & Housekeeping: Execute rigorous cleaning and maintenance protocols on all IT equipment, ensuring both departmental workspaces and the central IT storeroom are kept to strict operational and hygienic standards.
- Occupational Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines by utilizing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), maintaining hazard-free environments, and actively participating in safety interventions.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Academic Foundation: A valid Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate) or a formally recognised NQF Level 4 equivalent is strictly required.
- Experience: At least 1 year of practical experience operating within an IT or technical support environment is highly advantageous.
- Logistics: Possession of a valid South African driver's licence accompanied by your own reliable transport is essential.
- Technical Knowledge: Demonstrated foundational knowledge of basic IT tools, hardware components, and technical equipment.
- Physical Capability: Due to the hands-on nature of the role, candidates must be physically fit, possessing the ability to safely lift heavy hardware objects and securely work at heights when necessary.
