Job Summary
Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a passionate and hands-on Executive Chef for a beautiful boutique beachside hotel on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast. This intimate luxury property offers a refined yet relaxed guest experience, with a strong focus on fresh, seasonal cuisine served primarily to in-house guests, along with occasional private functions and small events. We are looking for a creative and organised chef who enjoys working in a smaller, personalised hospitality environment where attention to detail, consistency, and guest interaction are key. Key Responsibilities: • Oversee the full day-to-day kitchen operation • Design and implement fresh, seasonal menus with a focus on quality and simplicity • Ensure consistently high standards of food preparation and presentation • Manage stock control, ordering, food costing, and kitchen budgets • Lead, train, and motivate a small kitchen team • Maintain excellent kitchen hygiene and food safety standards • Work closely with management to enhance the overall guest experience • Cater for occasional private dinners, celebrations, and small events • Ensure efficient kitchen administration and reporting • Build strong relationships with guests through personalised hospitality and attention to detail Requirements: • Previous experience as an Executive Chef or Senior Sous Chef within a luxury boutique hotel, lodge, or high-end restaurant • Strong all-round culinary ability with a passion for fresh, seasonal cuisine • Excellent leadership and kitchen management skills • Strong stock control and food costing experience • Ability to work calmly and efficiently in a smaller, hands-on environment • Creative, organised, and service-driven personality • Excellent communication and team management skills • Hospitality qualification advantageous Package: • Salary negotiable depending on experience • Live-out position preferred • Opportunity to work in a highly regarded boutique hospitality environment on the KZN coast
