Job Summary
Requirements:
Education: A National Diploma or Degree in Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering.
3 to 5 years working as Foreman in mining processing Plant
Experience:
3 to 5 years of external sales and or Business Development Officer experience in an E&I construction, projects and maintenance services to the mining, industrial and infrastructure/commercial sectors in S.A.
Industry Knowledge: Strong familiarity with electrical systems (LV/MV switchgear, transformers, automation hardware) and process instrumentation (SCADA, sensors, control panels).
Soft Skills: Exceptional commercial acumen, high-level negotiation skills, and proficiency in CRM systems.
Logistics: A valid driver’s license and high tolerance for extensive travel.
Experience: Proven experience in business development, sales, or a similar role
Core Skills: Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, analytical, and project management skills
Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with productivity tools, CRM software, and Microsoft Office applications
Personal Attributes: High attention to detail, strategic thinking, and the ability to make fact-based decisions
Responsibilities
Market Research and Analysis: Conduct research to identify emerging business opportunities, analyse competitor strategies, and evaluate market trends to inform business decisions
Client Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, investors, and partners, ensuring long-term engagement and satisfaction.
Build trust with existing clients to encourage upselling and ensure long-term customer satisfaction and contract renewals
Travel frequently to industrial sites, processing plants, and construction projects to conduct needs analyses, deliver product demonstrations, and troubleshoot client queries
Business Strategy Development: Create and implement actionable business plans, including marketing strategies, sales proposals, and partnership initiatives. Proactively hunt for new leads within mining houses, construction sites, and infrastructure projects by cold calling and networking with key stakeholders like EPCM consultants and project managers
Revenue Generation: Source new business deals, negotiate contracts, and secure profitable agreements to meet or exceed revenue targets
Project Management: Plan, oversee, and execute projects from ideation to completion, ensuring alignment with company goals
Financial and Product Insights: Analyse financial data, customer feedback, and product performance to optimize offerings and improve profitability
Tender & Proposal Management: Monitor tender portals and procurement platforms for relevant opportunities. Evaluate bid opportunities and prepare bid/no-bid recommendations. Coordinate tender submissions with the Quantity Surveyor/Estimator and technical personnel. Ensure all tender submissions are complete, compliant, accurate, and submitted on time. Maintain a tender register and track outcomes.
Commercial Support: Assist in pricing strategies. Support contract negotiations. Work closely with the Quantity Surveyor to ensure competitive and profitable pricing. Assist with preparing commercial proposals and presentations. Monitor market pricing and competitor activity.
