Our client, a leading technology organisation within the semiconductor industry, is seeking a Junior Electronic Hardware Test Engineer to join their engineering team in Paarl.
In this role, you will be responsible for the testing, validation, and characterization of integrated circuits, including microcontrollers, analogue sensors, and LED driver technologies. You will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop test hardware and firmware, analyse performance data, troubleshoot technical challenges, and contribute to the successful development of innovative electronic products.
Education:
- BEng or MEng in Electronic Engineering.
Job Experience & Skills Required:
- 2 to 5 years of practical electronic engineering experience.
- Experience testing and characterising electronic hardware and embedded systems.
- Ability to interpret analogue and digital schematics.
- Embedded microprocessor development experience, including platforms such as Microchip PIC, STM8, or STM32.
- PCB design and layout experience.
- Programming experience in C, C++, and Python.
- Exposure to analogue simulation using SPICE-based simulators.
- Knowledge of FPGA development and integrated circuit technologies.
- Experience with VHDL, Verilog, and Git will be advantageous.
- Understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and teamwork abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct testing and characterization of electronic hardware, microcontrollers, sensors, and ASIC devices.
- Analyse test results, identify performance trends, and provide detailed technical reports.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware-related technical issues.
- Develop, maintain, and debug test programs used for hardware characterization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure successful product integration.
- Contribute to engineering documentation and adherence to established design processes.
