Job Summary
Our client, a leading organisation within the telecommunications and connectivity sector, is seeking a Senior Software Developer – Ops Portals to design, build, and maintain the web applications used daily by sales, operations, installation, and finance teams. This role offers the opportunity to work across the full development lifecycle, from frontend development and API integration to cloud deployment and user experience optimisation.
You will collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to deliver intuitive, high-performing applications that provide meaningful operational insights. Working within a modern cloud environment, you will play a key role in developing scalable, secure, and user-friendly platforms while contributing to engineering best practices and mentoring junior team members. Based in Rosebank, Johannesburg, this hybrid opportunity offers the chance to make a visible impact across a growing business while working with cutting-edge technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain internal web applications supporting operational, sales, installation, and business functions.
- Build responsive user interfaces using modern frontend frameworks and technologies.
- Integrate applications with shared APIs and backend systems to ensure accurate and reliable business data.
- Develop dashboards, KPI boards, reports, maps, charts, and data visualisation features.
- Ensure application performance, reliability, and usability across varying network environments.
- Implement automated testing, code review processes, and release management best practices.
- Maintain security, privacy, and compliance standards within all applications.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to translate operational requirements into scalable solutions.
- Support and mentor junior developers where required.
Job Experience and Skills Required:
- Matric (Grade 12) is required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a professional Software Developer with strong full-stack development experience.
- Proven experience developing and maintaining business-critical web applications used by internal or external customers.
- Strong experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Node.js.
- Proficiency in React and modern frontend development practices.
- Experience working with SQL and PostgreSQL databases.
- Experience with Google Cloud technologies including Firebase Hosting, Firebase Authentication, Cloud Run, and Secret Manager.
- Experience using Git/GitHub and automated testing frameworks.
- Strong understanding of software testing, code reviews, and structured deployment practices.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience within telecommunications, ISP, utilities, mapping solutions, or internal operational platforms will be advantageous.
- Experience mentoring junior developers will be beneficial.
- Cloud certifications such as Google Associate Cloud Engineer would be advantageous.
