Bookkeeper – Medical Practice / Doctor’s Rooms
Position Overview
The Bookkeeper is responsible for the full financial, administrative, and billing function of the medical practice. This role ensures accurate processing of patient accounts, medical aid submissions, debtors, creditors, statutory compliance, and all bookkeeping activities required for the smooth daily, monthly, and annual operation of the practice. High levels of accuracy, confidentiality, discipline, and accountability are essential.Key Responsibilities
- Patient Billing, Receipting & Debtors Management: Record fee journals, issue receipts, process debtor payments, and reconcile accounts.
- WCA / Compsol / eCoida Administration: Manage WCA process and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Financial Administration & Bookkeeping: Maintain cashbooks, process invoices, and manage practice accounts.
- Statutory Compliance & Payroll: Process PAYE, VAT, UIF, and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Month-End & Year-End Processes: Complete necessary financial processes and backups.
- Reception & Operational Support: Assist with patient handling, procedures, and reception duties.
- Doctor’s Personal Administration: Handle personal financial and administrative matters.
- IT & Data Security: Ensure secure storage of financial and patient data through regular backups.
Minimum Requirements
Proven experience in medical practice bookkeeping, strong knowledge of medical billing and statutory submissions, proficiency in accounting systems, and excellent organizational skills.Core Competencies
