Security Officer
Overview
We are seeking a professional, well‑presented, and service‑oriented Security Officer to safeguard our corporate premises, employees, and visitors. This role requires exceptional situational awareness, strong communication skills, and the ability to uphold a high standard of customer service while maintaining a secure and orderly environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a visible, professional security presence at reception areas, access points, and throughout the premises.
- Monitor and manage access control for employees, contractors, and visitors in accordance with corporate protocols.
- Conduct regular patrols of office floors, parking areas, and common spaces to identify risks, safety hazards, or irregularities.
- Operate and monitor CCTV systems, alarm panels, and electronic access‑control systems.
- Respond promptly and professionally to incidents, emergencies, and security breaches.
- Support front‑of‑house operations by assisting visitors, providing directions, and ensuring a welcoming yet secure environment.
- Enforce company security policies, confidentiality requirements, and health & safety procedures.
- Prepare accurate incident reports, daily occurrence logs, and handover notes.
- Coordinate with building management, emergency services, and internal stakeholders when required.
- Assist with evacuation procedures, fire drills, and emergency response protocols.
- Protect company assets by identifying suspicious behaviour, preventing unauthorised access, and reporting concerns immediately.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Valid PSIRA registration (Grade C/B/A depending on site requirements).
- Previous experience in a corporate or office‑park security environment is highly advantageous.
- Clear criminal record.
- Professional appearance and strong customer‑service orientation.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to remain alert during long periods of monitoring.
- Ability to remain calm, composed, and courteous in high‑pressure situations.
- Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays if required.
