Cape Olive Products is an established olive farming and processing business based in the Western Cape. We specialise in producing and packing high-quality table olives, olive oil, pickled onions and fermented jalapeños.
Position: Quality Assurance Co-ordinator
Location: Paarl, Western Cape, South Africa
Employment Type: Permanent, full-time
Reporting To: Quality & Food Safety Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, update and enforce quality control procedures across production and packing lines.
- Conduct routine inspections, sampling and testing of raw materials, in-process products and finished goods.
- Maintain HACCP, food safety and quality management system documentation.
- Investigate non-conformances, deviations and customer complaints, implementing corrective actions as required.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding incoming raw material quality and specifications.
- Support internal, customer and certification body audits.
- Train and guide production and packing staff on quality, hygiene and food safety standards.
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready quality records and reports.
- Maintain and support the ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) system.
- Serve as a member of the Health and Safety Committee, including preparing and distributing minutes.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum education: Grade 12 (Matric) is essential.
- 3–5 years’ practical experience in a quality assurance or food safety role within a food production or processing environment is required.
- A formal qualification in Food Technology, Quality Management or a related discipline is advantageous; however, strong practical experience will be equally valued.
- Sound working knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards such as ISO 22000 or FSSC 22000.
- Exceptional attention to detail and meticulous record-keeping skills.
- Professional communication abilities, with confidence in liaising with suppliers, clients and colleagues.
- Strong computer literacy.
- Own reliable transport.
- Willingness to work flexible hours during harvest and peak packing seasons.
