About the role
Our client, a supermarket in Matsulu, is looking for an experienced Store Manager (local to Matsulu) to lead a large team and take full ownership of store performance. You will drive sales growth and profitability, run tight stock and cost control, and make sure customers get excellent service every day.Key responsibilities
- Drive sales growth and manage gross profit margins, budgets, pricing and cost control
- Oversee ROS-based (rate of sale) ordering and manage stock cover
- Ensure stock availability, replenishment and stock accuracy across the store
- Manage cash flow and working capital
- Manage the service departments and maintain food safety standards
- Lead a staff complement of 80+ employees, including staff scheduling and performance management
- Maintain high standards of customer service
- Analyse sales and stock reports and take corrective action where needed
Minimum requirements
- Matric / Grade 12 and a relevant FET qualification
- At least 3 years' supermarket retail management experience (5 years preferred)
- Proven experience as a Store Manager, General Manager or in an equivalent senior management role
- Experience managing a staff complement of at least 80 employees
- Strong leadership, planning, numerical and communication skills
- Computer literacy and experience using retail POS and stock systems
- Available to work retail hours, including shifts, weekends and public holidays
Advantageous
- Retail/Grocery Store management experience
- Knowledge of the Sigma system
- Strong supermarket retail managers from other retail groups who meet the requirements above are also encouraged to apply
