Financial Accountant

Position Overview
A growing organisation is seeking a detail-focused Financial Accountant to support its operational finance function.
This is a hands-on, high-volume accounting position responsible for daily and monthly financial transactions, general ledger entries, reconciliations, payments and financial reporting. The successful candidate should take pride in producing accurate work and enjoy working within a structured, process-driven finance environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Accounting
Take ownership of daily and monthly accounting transactions.
Record transactions and entries in the general ledger.
Process accruals, invoices, payments, salaries and tax-related entries.
Prepare monthly trial balances from the general ledger.
Assist with draft management accounts, including income statements and balance sheets.
Support the preparation of annual financial statements.
Investigate audit queries and prepare supporting responses.
Assist with budgets, forecasts and financial reports.
Prepare financial information for management, shareholders and lenders.
Support the preparation of board packs, investor updates and project reports.
Complete bank reconciliations and assist with cash management controls.
Prepare and process supplier and service-provider payments.
Maintain a sound understanding of end-to-end accounting and payment processes.
Identify, communicate and escalate financial discrepancies or concerns.
Stakeholder and Project Support
Work closely with internal technical teams to provide required financial information.
Obtain project information that may affect the financial position of the business.
Assist with gathering information from contractors and advisors.
Ensure financial information is received accurately and within required timelines.
Economic Development Reporting
Liaise with contractors, suppliers and the Financial Manager.
Ensure information required for economic development reporting is correctly captured.
Tax
Assist with income tax and VAT return preparation.
Support monthly PAYE submissions.
Assist with mid-year and annual PAYE reconciliations.
Respond to general tax, VAT and related queries.
General
Minimum Requirements
Accounting degree, diploma or relevant tertiary qualification.
Between 2 and 5 years of relevant financial accounting experience.
Experience with general ledger processing and reconciliations.
Ability to prepare a trial balance and draft management accounts.
Working knowledge of tax, VAT and PAYE processes.
Strong Microsoft Office skills.
Good planning and organisational abilities.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Advantageous Experience
Experience within financial services.
Exposure to project-based companies or start-up environments.
Renewable energy sector experience.
Knowledge of Great Plains or a similar accounting system.
Skills and Competencies

Strong numerical and analytical ability.
Able to manage high volumes of financial transactions.
Good problem-solving and communication skills.
Comfortable working within structured accounting processes.
