Ultra Luxury Hotel opening in Sea Point is looking for an Assistant Financial Controller to support the Financial Controller in establishing strong financial controls, reporting accuracy, compliance systems, procurement monitoring, and operational finance support. Proven hotel pre-opening experience is essential. The candidate must have been an integral member of a hotel opening team ; actively involved in establishing operational standards ; systems; service culture ; and team structures from the ground up prior to the property’s first guest arrival. Duties: Financial Reporting & Accuracy: Financial Reporting Timelines: Ensure accurate daily, weekly, and monthly financial reporting within agreed deadlines. Maintain organised documentation and reconciliation support. Audit & Compliance Readiness: Support implementation of strong audit-ready financial procedures. Ensure compliance with company finance policies and statutory requirements. Cost Control & Procurement Monitoring: Departmental Cost Tracking: Assist with monitoring departmental expenses and budget variances. Identify and report unusual spending trends. Procurement & Inventory Controls: Support procurement controls and invoice verification processes. Assist in minimising stock variances and wastage. Operational Finance Support: Daily Revenue & Cash Controls: Ensure accurate cash handling verification and revenue reconciliation processes. Maintain strong daily audit controls. Accounts Payable & Supplier Coordination: Assist in maintaining supplier payment schedules and documentation accuracy. Support strong supplier relationship management. Pre-Opening Finance Setup: Financial Systems Setup: Support setup of financial systems, cost centres, controls, and procurement structures. Assist with opening inventory processes. Budget & Forecast Support: Assist in preparation and monitoring of operational budgets and forecasts. Provide analytical support to the Financial Controller. Teamwork & Communication: Cross-Departmental Financial Support: Maintain strong communication with operational departments. Support department heads in understanding financial controls and procedures. At least 3–5 years in a hotel accounting role, with experience in hotel systems Proficiency in Excel, strong analytical capabilities, knowledge of IFRS and local tax legislation. Demonstrated experience serving an international, high-net-worth, and culturally diverse clientele, with a refined understanding of the nuanced expectations, sensitivities, and preferences of discerning global travellers.
