Job Summary

The Tax Administrator / Junior Tax Assistant will provide administrative and operational support to the Tax Department, assisting with tax compliance processes, monitoring SARS eFiling activities, managing client tax documentation, and ensuring accurate record keeping. The role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple administrative tasks while meeting compliance deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Compliance Administration

• Prepare tax payment and refund correspondence for clients.
• Monitor tax payments, refunds, and assessments via SARS eFiling.
• Review and manage SARS correspondence and notifications.
• Assist with auto-assessment reviews and escalate discrepancies where necessary.
• Submit requests for extensions relating to SARS audits and verifications.

SARS Registrations and Updates

• Assist with income tax registrations and deregistrations where required.
• Process Tax Compliance Status (TCS) Pin applications.
• Update Registered Representative and Entity details on SARS systems.
• Process client banking detail updates on SARS eFiling.

Client and Administrative Support

• Communicate with clients to obtain documentation required for tax submissions.
• Prepare and distribute tax-related correspondence.
• Maintain organised electronic client files and records.
• Monitor tax compliance deadlines and follow up on outstanding documentation or submissions.

Minimum Requirements

Education

• Diploma or Certificate in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, or Bookkeeping will be advantageous but is not essential.

Experience

• 1–2 years’ experience in an administrative, accounting support, or tax administration role preferred.
• Exposure to SARS eFiling will be advantageous.

Technical Skills

• Basic understanding of South African tax administration processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Ability to manage digital records and correspondence efficiently.
