Ultra Luxury Hotel opening in Sea Point is looking for an Assistant Financial Controller I Senior Accountant. The Assistant Financial Controller will oversee daily accounting operations ; ensuring accurate financial reporting, internal controls ; and compliance. Key responsibilities include balance sheet reconciliations ; monthly management accounts ; payroll ; and supporting AP/AR functions to ensure operational efficiency. Proven hotel pre-opening experience is essential. The candidate must have been an integral member of a hotel opening team ; actively involved in establishing operational standards ; systems; service culture ; and team structures from the ground up prior to the property’s first guest arrival. Duties: Prepares monthly management accounts, reconciles balance sheet accounts, and prepares general ledger journals. Ensures compliance with SOPs and legal requirements. Manages AP/AR, petty cash, and daily income audits. Monitors hotel cash control and working capital. Assists with annual budgets, forecasting, and expense monitoring. Acts as a liaison between the finance department and other operational departments (F&B, Front Office) to ensure accurate revenue reporting (PMS/POS systems). Supervises accounting staff, assists with payroll processing Requirements: Grade 12 Degree in Accounting or Finance, or relevant professional qualification. At least 3–5 years in a hotel accounting role, with experience in hotel systems Proficiency in Excel, strong analytical capabilities, knowledge of IFRS and local tax legislation. Demonstrated experience serving an international, high-net-worth, and culturally diverse clientele, with a refined understanding of the nuanced expectations, sensitivities, and preferences of discerning global travellers.
