Job Summary
Turn decades of banking experience into entrepreneurial impact.
You have spent years understanding businesses. You have reviewed financial statements, assessed risk, interrogated forecasts, evaluated cash flow and made commercial decisions where judgement mattered.
Along the way, you have seen why some businesses succeed, why others struggle, and how quickly poor decisions can affect financial sustainability. But what if your wealth of experience could now be used differently?
Raizcorp is looking for experienced banking and financial-services professionals to join us as business coaches, working directly with a portfolio of entrepreneurs across finance, strategy, sales, marketing, operations, people and personal development.
This is not a banking role. You will not be selling financial products, assessing businesses for credit or managing a traditional banking portfolio. Instead, you will use your financial and commercial experience to help entrepreneurs understand their businesses, challenge their assumptions and improve their decision-making.
You do not need previous coaching experience. Raizcorp will train you in our internationally recognised business-coaching methodology. What we need is your financial depth, commercial judgement, empathy for entrepreneurs and genuine desire to help others build stronger businesses.
This role is a full-time role with the express requirement to be present at work from 8:00 am to 17:00 on weekdays.
What you’ll do
- Hold structured one-on-one coaching sessions with a portfolio of entrepreneurs.
- Help entrepreneurs interpret their financial information and use it to make better commercial decisions.
- Guide business owners in understanding cash flow, profitability, margins, working capital and financial sustainability.
- Help entrepreneurs understand what their numbers are telling them about strategy, sales, pricing, operations and the overall health of their businesses.
- Challenge assumptions, interrogate business thinking and help entrepreneurs evaluate commercial risks and trade-offs.
- Work across the entrepreneur’s entire business, including finance, strategy, sales, marketing, operations, people and personal development.
- Help entrepreneurs strengthen their business models, commercial disciplines and decision-making capability.
- Facilitate business simulations, workshops and group learning interventions using Raizcorp’s programmes and methodology.
- Collaborate with other Guides, specialists and programme teams to support each entrepreneur’s development journey.
This role may be a strong fit for you if you are:
- A retired or retiring banker who still has a strong appetite for business and wants to remain professionally active.
- A former relationship manager, business banker, commercial banker, credit professional, corporate banker, regional banking leader or financial-services executive.
- Someone who has spent a career assessing businesses and now wants to help build them.
- A commercially minded finance professional who understands that the financial statements are often the result of decisions made elsewhere in the business.
- Someone who enjoys understanding how businesses work and helping people think through difficult decisions.
- An experienced professional looking for meaningful work without returning to a traditional corporate banking career.
- Patient enough to develop people, but confident enough to challenge them.
- Able to listen without immediately taking over or providing all the answers.
- Motivated by seeing an entrepreneur become more capable and commercially confident over time.
What you’ll need
- Substantial experience within banking, financial services, commercial finance or a closely related environment.
- Meaningful exposure to businesses, entrepreneurs, business owners or commercial clients during your career.
- Strong financial acumen and confidence interpreting financial statements, cash flow, profitability, margins and other drivers of business performance.
- Deep commercial judgement and the ability to understand the story behind the numbers.
- A practical understanding of how finance interacts with strategy, sales, pricing, marketing, operations and people.
- The ability to identify patterns, interrogate assumptions and evaluate commercial risk.
- The confidence to challenge entrepreneurs while remaining constructive, respectful and non-judgemental.
- High emotional intelligence and genuine empathy for the realities of entrepreneurship.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to make complex financial and commercial concepts understandable and practical.
- An organised, disciplined and proactive working style.
- Confidence using technology and business systems, including Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Office.
- A relevant commerce, finance, accounting, economics or business qualification.
- A postgraduate qualification will be an advantage.
- A valid driver’s licence and your own vehicle.
- Experience owning, running or investing in your own business will be a significant advantage.

About
Who is Raizcorp?
Established in 2000, Raizcorp was created to grow and develop entrepreneurs in different contexts and in different stages of their lifecycles. Raizcorp has since evolved into different divisions that service the specific needs of entrepreneurs and those who support them.
Raizcorp is according to The Economist, the only genuine business incubator in Africa. However, we prefer to think of ourselves as a Prosperator™ rather than an incubator. We provide business support for enthusiastic and growth-hungry entrepreneurs, offering them a platform that fosters learning, and guidance that can be translated into practical business success.
