Kendrick Recruitment is looking for an experienced Assistant Finance Manager to join an exclusive luxury safari lodge in the Pongola area of KwaZulu-Natal. This is a great opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys being close to the operation and would like to work within a high-end hospitality environment. The successful candidate will support the Finance Manager across the day-to-day finance function, with a strong focus on reporting, reconciliations, creditors and debtors, stock and cost control, and maintaining accurate financial records. Package: R35;000 per month Live-in accommodation Meals on duty Medical Aid contribution Provident Fund The role will include: Supporting the day-to-day accounting and finance operation Processing financial transactions and maintaining accurate records Assisting with month-end and year-end processes, including journals, accruals and prepayments Managing and reconciling supplier accounts and assisting with payment preparations Accounts payable and receivable Monitoring debtors and following up on outstanding accounts Guest; agent and company invoicing Bank; cash-up and petty cash reconciliations Assisting with monthly stock takes, stock movements and cost control Working with operational departments to identify wastage, losses and unusual variances Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports Monitoring departmental expenditure against budgets Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow monitoring Supporting payroll processes and reconciliations Ensuring financial controls, policies and procedures are followed Assisting with internal and external audits Providing financial support and guidance to Heads of Department We’re looking for someone who: Has a Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Financial Management or a related field Has approximately 3–5 years’ relevant finance or accounting experience Has a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls Is confident with creditors, debtors, reconciliations and financial reporting Has strong Excel and general computer skills Is highly accurate, organised and comfortable working to deadlines Has excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Is professional, discreet and able to handle confidential financial information Is comfortable working independently while still being part of a wider operational team Previous experience within a hotel; lodge, resort or hospitality environment would be highly advantageous, particularly within a luxury or five-star operation. Experience with hospitality accounting systems, PMS/POS systems, stock and cost control, and payroll would also be beneficial. As this position is based at a remote safari lodge ; candidates need to be comfortable with lodge life and the flexibility that comes with an operational hospitality environment. Some weekend or public holiday work may occasionally be required, particularly around month-end, audits or busy periods.
