Job Summary
A diverse and established Financial Services Group is looking to appoint a Financial Accountant to their team at their offices in the Cape Winelands.
The ideal candidate will have completed SAICA, SAIPA or CIMA articles, hold a tertiary financial qualification, and membership to a professional body will be advantageous. Candidates qualified by experience in a related role and industry will also be considered. Experience with ERP systems such as Sage, SAP, Oracle, or Xero will be a positive but not a hard requirement and must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience.

Overview of the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant to manage the financial records of the company, ensure compliance with statutory requirements, and provide accurate and timely financial reporting. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of financial information, supporting decision-making, and improving financial processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, and journal postings.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS/IFRS for SME’s.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Monitor and report on company expenses, variances, and cost control.
- Handle tax returns, VAT submissions, and other statutory filings.
- Support annual audits by preparing schedules, reconciling balances, and liaising with external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to management.
- Assist with process improvements to streamline accounting operations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (BCom Accounting or equivalent).
- Professional certification (SAICA/AGA/CIMA) preferred but not always required depending on seniority.
- Proven experience as an Accountant, Financial Officer, or similar role (typically 2–5 years for mid-level).
- Solid knowledge of accounting principles, IFRS/IFRS for SME’s, and financial reporting.
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero).
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Remuneration:
- R360,000 to R540,000 per annum, negotiable depending on experience.
