Job Summary
A large and diversified group has a vacancy for an accountant at one of their agriculture and wine farming businesses in the Paarl area. They are looking for an experienced, dynamic and analytical finance professional to take charge of this role.
The ideal candidate will have completed SAICA, CIMA or SAIPA articles and a professional qualification will be highly advantageous, along with post articles experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Capture all transactions from the bank statements on the accounting system.
- Perform Bank reconciliations.
- Capture and reconcile all credit card transactions on the financial system and ensure supporting documents are filed.
- Processing, reconciliation and management of the accounts payable function.
- Processing, reconciliation and management of the accounts receivable function.
- Generate quotes, invoices and responsible for communication and management around these processes.
- Prepare monthly management accounts.
- Compile relevant and requested operational reports for input into management accounting pack.
- Perform Balance Sheet Reconciliations and Revenue Reconciliations.
- Prepare and submit monthly statutory reports, i.e., VAT, EMP, SDL, WCA, etc.
- Maintain fixed asset register.
- Assist with inventory reconciliations, accounting of inventory and follow up of discrepancies.
- Perform weekly cash flow projections for review.
- Suggest and make improvements to internal controls.
- Various reports as required.
- Ad hoc duties as requested.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or similar.
- Completed SAICA, CIMA or SAIPA articles.
- CA(SA), PA(SA) or CIMA qualification an advantage.
- 3+ years' relevant experience.
- Microsoft Excel – intermediate to advanced level.
- Computer literate - good working knowledge of Microsoft Office package.
- Aptitude in working with figures is essential.
Remuneration:
- R30,000 to R40,000 pm, depending on experience.
