Job Summary
Role Purpose
The Corporate Accountant is responsible for overseeing corporate, statutory, and IFRS accounting functions across the group. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong governance, regulatory compliance, and financial integrity at a corporate level.
This position works closely with the Financial Manager (operational finance focus) and reports directly to the CFO.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Close & Reporting
Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes
Prepare IFRS-compliant financial statements and management reports
Perform account reconciliations, variance analysis, and balance sheet reviews
Prepare ad-hoc financial reports for senior management and shareholders
Deliver board-level financial packs and executive summaries
Compliance & Control
Ensure full IFRS compliance and adherence to group accounting policies
Support and coordinate external audits
Maintain strong internal control frameworks
Manage tax computations and submissions including Corporate Income Tax, VAT, PAYE and Deferred Tax
Ensure CIPC and statutory filings are accurate and submitted on time
Process Improvement
Identify, design, and implement accounting process improvements
Improve systems efficiency, reporting accuracy, and close timelines
Strengthen reconciliation processes and financial controls
Support automation and integration between operational and corporate finance systems
Analysis & Business Support
Prepare and monitor financial KPIs and performance analytics
Provide financial insight and decision-support to other departments
Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
Assist the CFO with executive reporting, funding analysis, and stakeholder reporting

Timely and accurate completion of monthly and annual close
Minimal unreconciled balance sheet items
No material posting or reporting errors

Clean external audit outcomes
On-time completion of all tax, statutory, and CIPC submissions

Measurable efficiency gains such as reduced close cycle time

Experience & Competencies
South African Citizen (No Work Permits)
Grade 12
Relevant qualifications Degree/Diploma.
Strong IFRS technical accounting knowledge (essential)
Experience in corporate accounting, consolidations, and statutory reporting
Hospitality, luxury lodge, or multi-entity group experience advantageous
Solid tax and audit coordination experience
Advanced Excel and financial systems proficiency
High attention to detail with strong governance and integrity
Ability to work independently in a remote or hybrid structure
Location
Eastern Cape based at the reserve or remote with periodic travel to the reserve
