PBT Group is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Engineer to join a high-performing delivery team in Johannesburg. This role is ideal for a QA professional who enjoys ensuring software quality across the full testing lifecycle while working closely with Business Analysts, Developers, and Project teams in an Agile environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in validating business-critical applications through structured testing, defect management, API validation, and database verification, helping deliver reliable, high-quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, review, and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on business and technical requirements.

• Perform functional, integration, regression, system, and user acceptance testing.

• Identify, document, track, and verify defects using tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or HP ALM.

• Work closely with Developers, Business Analysts, and Project Managers to clarify requirements and resolve issues.

• Execute API testing using Postman, SoapUI, or similar tools.

• Perform SQL queries and database validation to ensure data accuracy and integrity.

• Prepare testing reports, quality metrics, and status updates for stakeholders.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.

• Support automation and performance testing initiatives where applicable.

• Ensure testing activities comply with established QA standards, processes, and best practices.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3–7 years of hands-on software testing and quality assurance experience.

• Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Lifecycle (STLC).

• Experience with:

  • Manual Testing

  • Functional Testing

  • Integration Testing

  • Regression Testing

  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

• Experience with defect management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or HP ALM.

• Hands-on API testing experience using Postman or SoapUI.

• Good SQL skills and experience with database testing.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Comfortable working in a collaborative Agile delivery environment.

Advantageous Experience

• Automation testing using Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar frameworks.

• Exposure to Banking, Financial Services, FinTech, Payments, or Card Systems.

• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

• ISTQB or equivalent software testing certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

• Relevant software testing certifications (advantageous).
