Reporting directly to senior financial leadership, this role serves as the second-in-command within the finance function and offers significant exposure to strategic decision-making, business operations, and organisational performance. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a passion for financial excellence, process improvement, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Compliance

• Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial information presented to executive management.
• Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards, legislative requirements, and governance frameworks.
• Assist with the preparation of board packs, management reports, and financial presentations.

Strategic Planning & Financial Performance

• Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term strategic planning processes.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to support informed business decisions.
• Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities for growth and operational efficiencies.
• Partner with leadership teams to drive profitability and business improvement initiatives.

Finance Leadership & Team Management

• Act as a key support to senior financial leadership in managing the overall finance function.
• Lead, mentor, and develop finance team members to ensure high levels of performance and accountability.
• Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Manage workload planning and resource allocation within the finance department.

Controls, Governance & Process Improvement

• Evaluate and strengthen financial controls, policies, and procedures.
• Drive process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and reporting accuracy.
• Ensure robust risk management and governance practices are maintained across the finance function.
• Support audit processes and implement recommendations where necessary.

Cash Flow & Stakeholder Management

• Oversee cash flow management and working capital performance.
• Provide meaningful financial insights and recommendations to operational and executive stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support key business objectives.
• Act as a trusted finance partner across the organisation.

Job Experience and Skills Required:

• Qualified CA(SA) is essential.
• 10–15 years of finance and accounting experience.
• Minimum 5 years' people management experience within a finance environment.
• Proven success in a senior financial management role.
• Strong financial reporting experience is non-negotiable.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop finance teams.
• Experience within the property, development, or related industries will be advantageous.
• Strong systems proficiency and advanced computer literacy.
• Excellent understanding of financial controls, reporting requirements, and business operations.
• A proven track record of stability and long-term tenure within previous positions.
