Senior Financial Manager who can partner with executive leadership, lead a high-performing team, and contribute meaningfully to long-term growth objectives.
Reporting directly to senior financial leadership, this role serves as the second-in-command within the finance function and offers significant exposure to strategic decision-making, business operations, and organisational performance. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a passion for financial excellence, process improvement, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial information presented to executive management.
- Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards, legislative requirements, and governance frameworks.
- Assist with the preparation of board packs, management reports, and financial presentations.
Strategic Planning & Financial Performance
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term strategic planning processes.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support informed business decisions.
- Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities for growth and operational efficiencies.
- Partner with leadership teams to drive profitability and business improvement initiatives.
Finance Leadership & Team Management
- Act as a key support to senior financial leadership in managing the overall finance function.
- Lead, mentor, and develop finance team members to ensure high levels of performance and accountability.
- Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Manage workload planning and resource allocation within the finance department.
Controls, Governance & Process Improvement
- Evaluate and strengthen financial controls, policies, and procedures.
- Drive process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and reporting accuracy.
- Ensure robust risk management and governance practices are maintained across the finance function.
- Support audit processes and implement recommendations where necessary.
Cash Flow & Stakeholder Management
- Oversee cash flow management and working capital performance.
- Provide meaningful financial insights and recommendations to operational and executive stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support key business objectives.
- Act as a trusted finance partner across the organisation.
Job Experience and Skills Required:
- Qualified CA(SA) is essential.
- 10–15 years of finance and accounting experience.
- Minimum 5 years' people management experience within a finance environment.
- Proven success in a senior financial management role.
- Strong financial reporting experience is non-negotiable.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop finance teams.
- Experience within the property, development, or related industries will be advantageous.
- Strong systems proficiency and advanced computer literacy.
- Excellent understanding of financial controls, reporting requirements, and business operations.
- A proven track record of stability and long-term tenure within previous positions.
