A leading multinational business with a strong presence in cross-border financial services is seeking a highly motivated
Senior Group Accountant to become part of its Group Finance team based in Johannesburg.
This role is ideal for a newly qualified Chartered Accountant or a professional with a few years of post-articles experience who is eager to broaden their expertise within a corporate environment. You'll work with international entities, contribute to strategic financial reporting processes, and develop valuable experience in global finance operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Group Financial Reporting and Consolidations
- Prepare and review consolidated financial information across multiple local and international entities.
- Assist with the compilation of Annual Financial Statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting processes.
Foreign Currency and International Accounting
- Manage accounting transactions involving multiple currencies.
- Monitor foreign exchange movements and ensure accurate recording of currency conversions and adjustments.
- Maintain the integrity of financial records across international business units.
Intercompany Accounting
- Reconcile intercompany balances and transactions across the group.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between entities.
- Maintain accurate records of intercompany funding arrangements and transactions.
Management and Group Reporting
- Compile detailed reporting packs for senior management and stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting across regional and head office functions.
- Provide financial support to various business units as required.
Compliance and Performance Analysis
- Perform variance analysis and provide meaningful insights into financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, internal policies, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Support external audits and regulatory reporting obligations.
Requirements
- Registered CA(SA) or eligible to register.
- BCom degree and completed SAICA articles.
- Submission of academic transcripts and Matric certificate is required.
- Newly Qualified CA(SA) up to 3 years post-articles experience.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly IFRS.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
- Exposure to audit or commercial finance environments will be advantageous.
- Willingness to consider future international opportunities, including potential relocation to Mauritius.
