Job Summary
Job Description:
Responsible for the accurate and timely month-end close process within the ERP system.
Ensure financial results are correctly reported, analysed, and aligned with corporate deadlines.
Prepare and review accruals, unbilled revenue, and unearned revenue entries.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and balance sheet controls.
Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain strong financial controls.
Produce comprehensive monthly financial reports for contract performance analysis.
Analyse profit and loss results against budget and forecast expectations.
Provide clear and concise commentary on financial and operational variances.
Conduct detailed balance sheet reviews, including receivables, accruals, and deferred costs.
Monitor and explain movements in key balance sheet accounts month-over-month.
Develop and implement action plans to resolve aged balance sheet items.
Prepare and maintain rolling forecasts, highlighting changes from previous projections.
Monitor and report on Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) performance.
Identify financial risks, opportunities, and the likelihood of forecasted outcomes being realised.
Deliver relevant financial analysis and insights to support effective contract management and decision-making.
Skills & Experience:
6+ years of experience within the Mining, Oil & Gas sector would be advantageous
Strong and extensive accounting background
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Proven team leadership and people management skills
Sound commercial and business acumen
Conduct detailed reviews and analysis of contract-related costs
Perform manhour reconciliations across multiple systems to verify the completeness and accuracy
Prepare and issue customer invoices accurately and within agreed timelines, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
Support the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and monthly projections in collaboration with the Contract Manager and in line with the corporate reporting schedule.
Produce monthly contract accounts, including reimbursable labour, rate-recovered costs, lump-sum activities, procurement, plant and equipment, and other reimbursable and non-reimbursable costs.
Qualification:
CA(SA)
Post graduate diploma in accounting science or equivalent
