Job Summary
Job Description:
Review and analyse costs charged to contracts, ensuring accuracy and appropriate allocation.
Manage month-end close activities within the ERP system, including accruals, unbilled and unearned revenue calculations.
Prepare monthly financial reports, including profit and loss analysis, balance sheet reviews, forecasts, and operational commentary.
Develop annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and monthly forecasts in conjunction with operational management.
Prepare contract accounts covering labour recoveries, procurement, equipment costs, reimbursable and non-reimbursable items.
Monitor cash flow, debtor collections, Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), and billing accuracy.
Perform monthly financial reconciliations and investigate over/under recoveries.
Provide financial insight and commercial support to Contract Managers and operational stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with accounting policies, credit risk requirements, and governance standards.
Liaise with internal, external and client auditors.
Supervise and develop finance team members while driving continuous process improvements.
Assist with ad hoc financial and commercial projects as required.
Skills & Experience:
CA(SA) qualification with a minimum of 6 years post-articles experience.
Strong experience within Oil & Gas, Mining, Energy, Engineering or related sectors.
Exposure to African operations and cross-border business activities is essential.
Advanced financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and commercial accounting experience.
Strong ERP systems knowledge, with Dynamics MS, JD Edwards or Oracle experience - advantageous.
Advanced Excel skills.
Strong commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills.
Previous team leadership experience - preferred.
Willing to travel into Africa multiple times per year, with trips ranging from one to two weeks at a time.
